The World of Orth: Unknown Thunder

Orth has recently been the victim of an odd phenomena. Heavy clouds that blew in with a storm about a month ago have yet to leave or show a crack of sunlight. Everything is water-logged and flooded from constant rain and the vegetation is dying. The world is flat, but even the great waterfalls that exist at the world's bladed edge cannot empty the water fast enough to properly drain the excess water. What could be causing these clouds?
